Tesla boss Elon Musk used his own Roadster for the purpose and the car was launched using SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

A report claims that the Tesla Roadster is currently moving toward Mars at a speed of 42,854 kph, which means 11.90 km per second. Currently, the car is around 112,803,994 km away from Mars.

Launching the car into space gave Tesla and the new model pretty good exposure.
