Roush Nitemare F-150 promises to be world's fastest production pickup
Roush is ready for SEMA, and it’s bringing some big promises with it to Las Vegas. The Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F]-focused tuning house has a new Nitemare F-150, and it’s already calling it the world’s fastest production pickup truck. Apparently, today is Truck Tuesday.
Unfortunately, we have no details yet on this one, just the teaser images we plucked from the video posted on Roush’s Facebook page. The truck will be unveiled in the Roush booth, and then be on hand for the SEMA party from November 1-4.
Years ago, Roush teamed up with Ford for a prior version of the Nitemare F-150. That one came packing a 5.4-liter V-8 engine that was boosted thanks to the addition of a supercharger. It produced 445 horsepower and 500 pond-feet of torque, and Roush only built 100 examples.
To turn a new Nitemare into the world’s fastest production truck will take some work. We assume this is another supercharged V-8 build, yielding massive horsepower and torque numbers. Of course, it could be Ford’s EcoBoost twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 as well. Either way, even with all that aluminum, this truck will need plenty of power to hit “world’s fastest”-type speeds.
Images of the Ram SRT10, GMC Syclone, and supercharged TRD Tundra start popping into our heads when talking about fast trucks. To be king of this hill, we’re going to need a 4.0-second (or better) 0-60 mph blast and an eye-popping quarter mile time. If anyone can pull that off, it’s Roush.
