Steve Hemmerstoffer, the prolific tipster who is more popularly known as OnLeaks on Twitter, has released a video featuring a render of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8.
The rumor mill is bursting with alleged leaks and reports regarding the premium smartphone, but this new render deserves attention because OnLeaks is viewed as one of the more reliable sources for information on unreleased devices.
New iPhone 8 Render
OnLeaks worked with GearIndia to create the iPhone 8 render, which he claims is based on computer-aided design (CAD) images acquired from Apple. The rendered image is said to be based on measurements of 143.5mm x 70.9mm x 7.7mm.

Hemmerstoffer admitted that the render may not be the final design of the iPhone 8 because Apple has been testing several prototype designs. However, this is so far the best glimpse at the upcoming device, as any changes that Apple may have made for the final design could be minor ones.
Render Confirms Several iPhone 8 Rumors
If the render turns out to be accurate, it confirms several rumors regarding the iPhone 8.
First and foremost is the edge-to-edge OLED display of the smartphone, with only a very small bezel at the top of the iPhone 8 where the front camera and earpiece will be positioned. The screen is said to be as big as that of the iPhone 7 Plus, but it will fit into a device that is just slightly larger than the iPhone 7. There is no physical home button at the front, and its chassis seems to be made of glass.
A look at the back of the smartphone shows vertically aligned dual cameras with a camera bump, but perhaps more importantly, no Touch ID sensor. The positioning of the fingerprint scanner is one of the biggest criticisms against Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and rumored to be one of the main reasons why the iPhone 8 may be delayed.
Samsung decided to eliminate the physical home button and move the fingerprint scanner at the back of the Galaxy S8. This is described as a design flaw due to the uncomfortable grip required to access it and the risk of users regularly smudging the rear camera lens with their fingers as they reach for the sensor.
In order to avoid such a mistake, Apple looked to place the Touch ID sensor underneath the display of the similarly bezel-less iPhone 8. The company was said to have ran into trouble in getting the technology to work, but a recent report claimed that Apple is now on schedule for the mass production and release of the iPhone 8.
iPhone 8 Announcement, Release Date
The render uploaded by OnLeaks is the best look that we have at the iPhone 8 as the world awaits its announcement, expected to be sometime in September.
It is believed that the iPhone 8 will be unveiled alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, with sales of the smartphones to commence shortly afterward in October.
