Devin Wenig, president and CEO of e-commerce giant eBay, has been elected to the General Motors board of directors.
GM CEO Mary Barra, in a statement, said Wenig brings “significant expertise in technology, global operations and strategic planning” to the automaker’s board.
“His experience in customer-facing roles and insights into digital marketplaces will enhance our current and future business priorities at a critical time in the company’s journey,” Barra said.
Wenig, 51, was named eBay’s CEO in July 2015, four years after he joined the company as president, overseeing eBay’s Marketplace business. Wenig previously spent more than 18 years at Thomson Reuters, including four years as CEO of Thomson Reuters Markets.
Wenig’s appointment expands the GM board to 11 members, 10 of whom are nonemployees. Wenig will stand for election at GM’s annual shareholders meeting June 12 alongside other board members.
